Summer 2025 plans

The Fairfax Community Library's plans for Summer 2025 are evolving.

Due to the ongoing construction/renovation project at BFA-Fairfax, the campus will be uninhabitable for regular Library operations and patron and staff safety and comfort.

Instead, the Library will use the Town Office as an auxiliary site. (The Library is not moving like in 2024.)

Library staff will bring some items to the Town Office for the summer, and have access to the Library to fulfill patron requests. Library staff will have full access to our collection this year.

Library staff will continue to fill Interlibrary Loan and Curbside Service requests, too, from the Town Office. The Library's book drop box will remain at the Town Office until the construction/renovation project is complete.

Please check back often for more information.

Behind the Theme
"Member libraries [of the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP)] across the country chose this theme in 2021 and the slogan in 2022 because art has the power to transform, uplift, and connect us. It allows us to see the world through different lenses, fostering empathy and understanding. Our 2025 theme, “Color Our World,” encourages libraries to embrace the beauty of art in all its forms, creating a colorful tapestry of experiences for everyone." [emphasis ours]

Kick-Off
Information about the Kick-off for the Library's
Color Our World summer reading program is forthcoming.

Programs
Please check our Programs page for up-to-date information.
Participation
Kids (Ages 0-17)
Kids can track their reading on a reading log provided by the Library: 20 minutes of reading merits 1 sticker. Once kids read 120 minutes or 6 stickers, they can bring their reading log to the Library to claim a small prize and submit a raffle ticket for the grand prize drawing at the end of the summer.

Adults (Ages 18+)
Adults can pick up a bingo sheet from the Library with a variety of reading-themed challenges. Each time you complete a "BINGO" (row, column, or diagonal of 5 challenges), you can bring your sheet to the Library for a small prize and a raffle ticket for the grand prize.
