Pollinator Pathway
"Out of this idea, [started by environmentalist Donna Merrill in 2016], emerged the Pollinator Pathway as it exists today in the North East, town-based organizations run by volunteers from various town conservation organizations that encourage both citizens and municipalities to plant native pollinator-friendly plants and avoid pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Though each town identifies a pathway that they will focus on connecting by reaching out to home and business owners along it, all are welcome to join the pathway project by simply providing safe habitat way-stations for pollinators."

University of Vermont (UVM) Master Gardener
"We train volunteers using science-based information to improve their gardening and environmental stewardship knowledge and skills. Our volunteers then give back to their local communities by providing education to help all Vermonters garden and compost better. Our vision is to cultivate resilient, healthy communities and ecosystems as the most trusted resource for horticulture education in Vermont."
  • Gardening Resources
    • "Home horticulture resources from the UVM Extension Master Gardener Program and beyond"
  • Helpline
    • "The UVM Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Helpline serves Vermont residents by providing science-based information about home horticulture issues and integrated pest management (IPM). Extension Master Gardener Volunteers do NOT provide personal site visits to home gardens. Volunteers are also limited on the pesticides they are allowed to recommend as they are not licensed pesticide applicators."

Vermont Garden Network
"The Vermont Garden Network educates, supports and connects gardeners. We believe in the power of people growing food to strengthen food security, promote food justice and build community, and we want every Vermonter to have access to the space and resources they need to be successful in growing some of their own.
  • "Every child needs access to healthy food, to know where food comes from, and to learn basic food preparation skills they will use their whole lives.
  • "Garden leaders and educators need support to provide essential skills for people to be active participants in the food system – to be producers, not just consumers.
  • "Neglected land needs to be transformed into productive space providing a fresh, affordable and equitable source of fruits and vegetables."
