“This theme…invites layered interpretation. Whether readers are digging into a good book, uncovering hidden histories, or exploring the past, the slogan underscores the joy of discovery that reading brings. It also emphasizes that every person and every community has stories waiting to be found and shared–through books, programs, and local knowledge.”
— The Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP)

Programs
* You do not have to be singed up for the Summer Reading Program to participate in library activities like Crafternoons, but if you want to win prizes for reading, make sure to sign up and grab a reading log from us!
The Library offers the Summer Reading Program to help prevent “summer slide”: Maintaining the reading habit during school vacations helps children keep skills sharp. Help motivate your child to read by participating in our programs.

Reading Dragons & Friends
Reading Dragons & Friends continues with an all-new, even bigger deck of cards you can collect. Three (3) of this year’s collectible cards were designed by BFA students!
How it works: The more time you spend reading, the more cards you can add to your deck, and the more powerful you can make them! As with the Summer Reading Program, twenty (20) minutes of reading earns one (1) new Reading Dragon card or evolving a card already in your deck.
Do you and your family visit other participating Vermont libraries, or do you summer in another state and want to know if there’s a participating library near you? Check out the Reading Dragons map–it truly is a growing, global phenomenon!
Summer Reading Finale
Join us Wednesday, August 12, at 1:00 p.m. for the Summer Reading Finale with a visit from Fizzical Fairytales!
* Tuesday, August 11, is the last day to bring in your reading logs and enter the raffle. *
The Grand Prize drawings will take place at the Finale.
