
The Fairfax Community Library hosts programs
for a broad interests and activities, for any who wish to participate.
You don’t need to be a Library patron to attend Library programs!
Program participants are expected to follow the Library’s policies, including our Patron Code of Conduct.
Programs are free and materials are provided unless noted. Pre-registration required–at least 1 week before the program date, please. Call (802) 849-2420 or email libraryfairfax@gmail.com to sign up.

Youth Events
Wednesday, April 1-Thursday, April 30: Reading Dragons Design Competition
The Reading Dragons will be back again this summer, and we need your help designing this year’s mythical cards! Submissions are due on or before Thursday, April 30th, with winners being announced on Monday, May 4. The three winning cards will be turned into real Reading Dragon cards for you and your friends to play with and evolve! All you have to do is pick up the design sheets at the Library and get creative.
Wednesdays, April 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29, at 10:30 am: Preschool Story Time
Join us for stories and songs! Children’s books will be available to check out as well.
Fridays, April 3, 10, & 17, at 3 pm: Lego Club
Kids ages 6+ enjoy themed Lego play after school. At this time, Lego Club is currently full.
Wednesday, April 1, at 3 pm: Chalk Painting
Ages 8+. Please contact the Library to register. Materials provided. Create fun, abstract art with chalk and water!
Wednesday, April 8, at 3 pm: Circle Weaving
Ages 8+. Please contact the Library to register. Materials provided. Use a simple circle loom to make a woven bracelet!
Wednesday, April 15, at 3 pm: Keychains
Ages 8+. Please contact the Library to register. Materials provided. Design your own custom keychain!
Wednesday, April 29, at 3 pm: Orbeez Galaxy/Diorama Jars
Ages 8+. Please contact the Library to register. Materials provided. Make art in a jar with crushed Orbeez!
Family Events (for Youth & Adults)
Tuesdays, April 7, 14 & 28, at 3 pm: Sketchbook Club
Led by Sarah Barnes, Sketchbook Club is a fun and relaxed space to draw, try new art media, and build an artistic community! Feel free to bring your own supplies, but materials will be provided. Sketchbook Club is open to all ages and all skill levels.
Thursday, April 30: Welcome Child Book Dedication forms due
If you received a mailed invitation to participate in the Library’s Welcome Child Book Dedication, completed forms are due by Thursday, April 30. Parents/guardians are welcome to submit the forms throughout the month at the Library, the Town Offices, or via email to fairfaxvtlibrarian2@gmail.com.
Reminder: The Welcome Child Social for 2025 dedicatees will be held Saturday, May 9, at 10 am.
Adult Events
Thursday, April 23, at 3 pm: Library Book Club
The book this month is The Comfort of Crows: A Backyard Year by Margaret Renkl A Zoom link will be available for anyone who wants to attend remotely. If you would like to borrow a copy of the book, or request the Zoom link, please contact the Library.
Saturday, April 18, at 11 am: Introduction to Knitting
Get started learning the knitting basics! No experience necessary, and all materials will be provided. To register, please contact the Library.
Board of Trustees
Thursday, April 16, at 6:30 pm: Joint Board Meeting
The Trustees and School Board representatives will meet in the Fairfax Community Library.
Closures & Holidays
In inclement weather, the Library closes at the discretion of staff. If BFA-Fairfax closes due to inclement weather, the Library also closes. We will post information about inclement weather-closures on our Facebook page.
